Two teenage sirens looking for adventure went into land to find one. There was sex. There was comedy. And there was musical. The ending though, as famous stories go, is mayhem and heartbreak.

Readers of Hans Christian Andersen's The Mermaid (refer to the original story, not the Disney Version) know that in the end the mermaid died, love unrequited. In this flick. Silver's fate is pretty much the same and Gold's also did not fare well. But boy. did those girls had a lot of fun.

Elements of the movie reminds me of a Lynchian film. It was surreal, haunting and captivating. The musical sequences specifically are decadent. Like a siren's song, luring.

Córki dancingu or as known internationally as The Lure is the first feature film of Agnieszka Smoczynska. Works under the Polish Director's Portfolio include Fugue and Viva Maria.
