Well.well.well.

Look who's back. Ith me. 😜

It's been quite some time and it's only now that I have watched it. I know... I was Netlfix and Chilling ok. Plus, with all that's happening in Manila right now... Priorities, Anyway.

Jojo Rabbit was released in 2019, written and directed by Taika Waititi. The movie is an anti-hate satire revolving around the Third Reich era. It's a Nazi boy-meets-Jewish girl coming-of-age Hipster movie.

So right off the bat, the movie's aesthetic is reminiscent of Wes Anderson; as in very much so. Like in the youth camp sequence where Sam Rockwell, Rebel Wilson, and Alfie Allen's characters were introduced. Very Moonrise Kingdom. Nevertheless, Taika Waititi's signature elements were of course present. His "humor out of sadness" take was very striking. Unlike his work "What We Do in the Shadows," which I'm a fan of both the movie and the series, Jojo Rabbit just kind of only dipped its toes on the surface of black comedy.

Overall it's a feel-good movie.

Stay Curious,

Sai. D
