I honestly did not expect this series to be...good?!
After my heartbreak over Glenn's death in the Walking Dead, I said I will never watch Zombie Doomsday series ever again. In fact, i stopped watching TWD after that episode. I booted that show out of my Hippocampus to be forever forgotten. Nadah. Done.!
But 'lo and behold, here I go binging on Daybreak a post-apocalyptic teenage comedy-drama series based on Brian Ralph's graphic novel of the same name. Each episode is narrated by different character's POV, which is actually quite refreshing to have since every story has a different angle. Josh, the main character is also not a typical protagonist. He got flaws and all. His noble "mission" is quite outdated and sexist. And the series poignantly discussed this in episode 8. I like Angelica's character though as it is a reminiscent of Juno (Movie). Her dialogues are witty, rational, and graphic, just the way i like it. And the mall-- If ever there will be a zombie apocalypse you best believe I will haul myself and make a fort in Trinoma. Peak Dawn of the Dead Dream realness there.
The story is a culmination of high school drama cliches but they executed it well. Can't wait for Season 2!
The series is produced by Brad Peyton, Aron Eli Coleite, and Jeffrey Fierson and currently streaming in Netflix.
P.S. So... this is my first tv series flash review?? hah!
